Life on Mars scheduling/BBC video

Importance of Crime Dramas to channel/ratings-  It is important for Life on Mars to be scheduled after the watershed so as they can show accurate representations of the crime that was happening back in the 1970's, if the programme was shown before this time, it would not be appropriate as the violent scenes and foul language would not be suitable for family viewing. If the show was to be shown before 9 o'clock (therefore not give an accurate representation) could mean that viewing figures could be effected as the show may not give a true portrayal of the 1970's. In addition to this, creating accurate representations may engage the target audience and also allow them to compare genuine 70's crime with the crimes of today. Life on Mars was scheduled at 9pm every Monday (peak viewing time). Post-watershed, in-between Eastenders and BBC news at 10. Being shown at this time is key for the show as it is peak viewing time which means this is when most people are watchin

We then see him enter the police office he works in (in the present day) however it looks very different to what he is used to it looking like. As he walks through the office doors, they close behind him perhaps reiterating the fact that he is trapped in 1973. As the title of the show appears on screen in a ‘tiled’ effec

Vance Joy - 'Riptide' and 'Georgia' Music Video Analysis

Economical Contexts   F unding:  The music video to the Riptide by Vance Joy was low budget film, with no special effects or major editing added. The Australian band are signed to Atlantic records label and this song 'Riptide'; was their first single to be released in America. On the other hand, once their popularity grew, as did their funding, the video to one of their more recent songs, 'Georgia' clearly had a far larger budget and was shot with special effects, looking more like a film, than a music video. Visually it was a lot more cinematic, and was made to have more of an effect on the viewer .   The 'random' images displayed in a montage style in the video to 'Riptide' are seemingly random, but when combined with the lyrics, we see how they represent the words he is saying. This is an example of a cheap budget but meaningful music video, some may say a powerful message is displayed.     The combination of elements of the media language influ
